Ignatian Spirituality – A Pilgrimage of More

Ignatian Spirituality, appropriated through the lenses of pilgrimage is essentially as defined by David Fleming SJ, a “Way of Proceeding”: seeing, discerning and serving. Seeing meaning (God), Discerning our direction (in Life), and Serving (in Love).

An Ignatian Pilgrimage is not so much about a destination, nor is it about a journey, but to walk with the One. When we are awakened by this encounter, we respond to this stirring that invites, attracts and inspires us toward more life. The magis, the deeper, the more that Jesuits are called to imbibe, is the Compass of our interior pilgrimage.

May this opening session not only mark the beginning of the Ignatian Festival, but lay the foundation for your pilgrimage of life – the interior pilgrimage towards the pulsating, warm and endearing heart of God who beckons.

An Ignatian Reflection of Laudato si'

We are all familiar with the current ecological crisis. Pope Francis, in his 2015 encyclical Laudato si’, reflects on the sacredness of creation, and calls on Christians to greater care for the Earth, which he calls our ‘common home’.

Drawing from Ignatian spirituality, this session reflects on the insights of Laudato si’.

Finding God in the Conflicts and Challenges of Marriage

Marriage is a Christian vocation and a lifelong journey of ever deeper intimacy. The Bible uses marriage as a picture of the greatest relationship of all, and as a symbol of his unconditional love for us. Marriage is holy!

However, we know that marriage is not easy, with conflicts and challenges arising along the way. Learn how to find God in these, as well as how to love your spouse as God loves each of us. As our spouse is imperfect, so we are imperfect. As our spouse may disappoint us, so we may disappoint God. Transform your marriage in learning the practical tools to help love your spouse in a deeper way.

Other take-aways:

  • Learn to nurture the sacred space between you and your spouse

  • Learn to stretch into new behaviour that invites our own spiritual growth

  • Learn to relate with a loving attitude towards each other
